Cecily Brick - Partner
Cecily has been a litigator specialising in commercial disputes since 1993, and has developed significant expertise in insurance law since joining Jones Fee in 2002. Cecily became a partner of the firm in 2010.
Cecily's practice includes regular participation in mediations. She is also a seasoned Court advocate who makes frequent appearances in the High Court, has experience at Court of Appeal level and in various tribunals (including the Weathertight Homes Tribunal), and regularly works with a number of New Zealand's top Queen's Counsel.
Cecily enjoys combining the intellectual challenges of the law with a practical focus to achieve commercially oriented solutions for clients.
In her insurance practice, Cecily regularly advises local and overseas insurers on policy coverage and litigation matters, particularly concerning:
- Insurance issues arising from the Canterbury earthquakes
- Material damage and business interruption claims
- Contractual disputes
- Negligence claims across a variety of industries and occupations
- Construction, engineering and leaky building disputes
- Defective product cases
- Fair Trading Act claims
- Claims against company directors
- Contract Works issues
Cecily also acts for corporate and personal clients in a range of commercial and civil litigation. Cecily holds an LLB(Honours) from the University of Auckland.
