Russell Stewart - Associate

Russell graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours).  After working for two years in a large commercial law firm in Auckland, Russell moved to Sydney.  He practiced in Sydney in a leading Australian commercial and insurance firm for over 10 years before returning to New Zealand.  Russell joined Jones Fee in September 2010.

Primary Areas of Practice

Russell has extensive experience advising on policy coverage, conducting commercial litigation and providing advice and litigation strategies on a range of legal issues in the following areas:

• Professional Indemnity insurance - including solicitors, financial brokers, real estate agents
• Directors and Officers Liability Insurance
• Disputes - strategic handling of disputes or potential disputes
• Property and contamination disputes
• Defective product disputes

Russell regularly provides advice on defence strategies and claims and litigation management.  Russell has represented clients in the legal, financial brokering, mining, chemical and property industries.

Russell is admitted to practice in the High Court of New Zealand, the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
